After months of changes in typical procedures, we are all beginning to acclimate to changes and cancellations. This lighter post serves to remind us that everything is not cancelled.  Sometimes we just need to change our lens to look for the things we can appreciate this summer.

So what isn’t cancelled…?

  •  The taste of anything fresh!
  • The pleasant sound of a friend’s voice on the phone
  • A phone call from someone with whom you actually want to speak
  • The excitement of getting a handwritten note in the mail
  • The excitement of getting anything in the mail that is not a bill
  • Colorful sunsets
  • Afternoon thunderstorms
  • Clean sheet night! A completely underrated pleasure.
  • New standup from a favorite comedian
  • The good, kind of tired from swimming in the ocean or pool
  • Ice cream, especially with toppings!
  • The smell of a campfire
  • The taste of s’mores at that campfire
  • Meetings that end early
  • Short, meaningful texts from friends
  • Memes that are worthy of a chuckle or contemplation
  • The satisfaction of reaching the last page in that book that’s been on the nightstand forever
  • New playlists filled with music that makes you feel like kicking back on a Friday evening
  • Faith that we will make it through this
  • Gratitude that we have all we really need
